CIMA F2 (Advanced Financial Reporting) is a Management-level objective test in the Finance pillar of the CIMA professional qualification. It is for students who have completed F1 and want to prepare group accounts and analyse financial performance in depth. F2 develops the reporting and analysis skills expected at the management level.

Most students need around 12 to 14 weeks, or roughly 130 to 160 hours, to prepare for the CIMA F2 exam. F2 combines technical consolidation work with interpretation, so balanced practice across both is essential. Repeated, timed practice of group accounts and analysis questions builds the accuracy F2 demands.

The CIMA F2 syllabus covers the financing of capital projects including financial instruments, the preparation of group (consolidated) financial statements, the analysis and interpretation of financial statements, and integrated reporting. Group accounts and financial-statement analysis each carry a substantial share of the marks in the exam.

F2 is a 90-minute computer-based objective test of around 60 questions at CIMA Management level. It is available on demand throughout the year at Pearson VUE centres or online via OnVUE. The exam uses a scaled score with a pass mark of 100 out of 150 and no negative marking, so attempting every question matters.

You should have passed or be exempt from F1 before sitting F2, as F2 assumes confidence with single-entity financial statements and reporting standards. Students often fail CIMA F2 by under-practising consolidation, struggling to interpret financial statements, and mismanaging time across the objective test.
